This plugin lets you easily install the GroupDocs document comparison tool to your Orchard website. With this tool you will be able to embed documents directly into your Orchard web-pages and then compare the documents side by side right on the website. This way you can compare two Word documents, PDF files or Excel spreadsheets. This is a convenient approach of collaborating on documents online. It eliminates cross-platform and cross-version incompatibilities - none of the parties needs to download documents or install any 3rd party software - documents can be compared online, from any web-enabled device.

To compare Word, PDF or Excel documents directly on your Orchard website, just follow these simple steps:

  1. Create an account at GroupDocs (you can subscribe for a free 14-day trial to test the tool).
  2. Install this plugin to your Orchard website.
  3. Upload the documents you want to compare and embed them into one of your Orchard web-pages.
  4. GroupDocs will compare the documents and highlight differences between the two versions with a Redline Change Tracking View. This is very similar to MS Word Change Tracking feature. All differences will be marked up with underlines and strikeouts.
  5. You can provide your colleagues with a link to the web-page where compared documents are embedded so that they can also track changes.
  6. Finally, you can merge the two versions of the document to save it as the final one in a Word format with the MS Change Tracking View turned on. (This feature is currently available when comparing Word documents only).
