Building on the Mechanics system of connectors, Quanta provides "Effective Roles" connectors (you have to enable the Effectors feature). These allow you to connect users and roles to items; creating a new model of per-item permissions for your users, which supplements Orchard's built-in content type permissions. In addition it includes Group based roles so you can assign rights over items to all members of a Group.
